This house lets the elements do the talking, with its large windows and monochromatic colour palette allowing sunlight and the surrounding greenery to take centre stage. Black cladding and white interiors create a simple yet striking home, which is a short walk from Māpua’s picturesque inlet. High vaulted ceilings, with windows that mirror the pitched roofline, lend a feeling of space and light to the two-bedroom, two-bathroom home. These windows make the most of the Tasman area’s long, sunny days and ensure the home stays warm in winter, while evenings are kept cosy with a Yunca woodburner, set into a black ceiling-height fireplace surround; outside is a weathered steel fireplace. A fern-lined boardwalk between the garage and kitchen-living-dining area leads to the front door, bringing to mind the beautiful bush walks in the area, and a long window opens from the kitchen to this entryway. To the left of the entry, the kitchen and dining area separates two living zones. Two sun-soaked patios are accessible from this large open-plan area, while the main bedroom also opens up to the main patio, connecting the home to the great outdoors.
