The owners’ brief was clear. They wanted their brand new home to be in keeping with other homes in their established neighbourhood. They’d removed the old house on the site but the replacement needed to “fit in”. The design team came up with a plan that mixed plaster weatherboard cladding with features such as character window detailing and traditional rooflines. These have given the 229sqm build a feeling of yesteryear – but with the convenience of the latest products, innovations and building techniques. Character features: tick. All the mod cons: tick. In the main part of the house are three bedrooms, the main with a tiled ensuite and a walk-in wardrobe. A fourth bedroom on the far side of the double garage is configured as a private sleepout and has its own living space and ensuite. Fanning out from the kitchen are three living zones – open-plan family, living and dining – so there’s plenty of space for everyone. Doors open directly onto patios, one covered, providing yet more pleasant and relaxing places for the owners.
