New Zealand Golf national tournament scene will hit the ground running in spring as three more Jennian Homes Charles Tour events have been confirmed over a three-week stretch in October.
The DVS Pegasus Open returns for a second time and will kick off a three-week stretch of tournament golf on the Jennian Homes Charles Tour circuit from October 1. The Carrus Open will follow from October 8, and the Taranaki Open tees off on October 15 for the first time since 2017.
The Autex Muriwai Open is the first Jennian Homes Charles Tour event to kick competitive golf back underway in a couple of weeks’ time from July 30.
New Zealand Golf General Manager for Golf Operations and Championships Dave Mangan says it’s great for our local elite golfers to have competition to play in again.
“Due to the ongoing global covid-19 pandemic, things have been very difficult in New Zealand and it’s great to know that heading into spring our domestic elite amateurs and professionals will have three quality events in a row to play in.
“We are already looking forward to the rescheduled Autex Muriwai Open in a couple of weeks but to have some certainly around our other upcoming Jennian Homes Charles Tour events is testament to all the hard work put in by our host clubs and the support of the sponsors,” Mangan says.
The Jennian Homes Charles Tour has been on a long hiatus since the opening event in March at the Brian Green Property Group Super 6’s. The Barfoot and Thompson Akarana Open is the only event to fall victim to the covid-19 pandemic.
The Mount Open will also take place in December and will again be the final event of the Jennian Homes Charles Tour season where the season winner will be crowned.
